Ravellenic Games

Our next Knitalong (or crochetalong) is beginning this Friday, July 27th on Ravelry. We have formed a Hazel Knits team to participate in the Ravelry-wide 2012 Ravellenic Games.

For this KAL, you challenge yourself to complete a project of your choosing (in our case in HK yarn) during the 2012 London Olympics.

You can find more information about our team here and more information about the Ravellenic Games in general here.

We'd love it if you'd join our team!

What the HK is on Your Needles? Vol. 29

Time for another look at some beautiful projects other HK knitters have recently completed.
First up, Susan (ravname: susanmhj) knit this really cute Fleur de Lis & Cearnog Pincushion in Artisan Sock. She's not sure what colour she used, but my best guess is Equinox.  This is a great remnant busting project. Susan used the remnants from her Merino Lace Socks that she knit earlier this year.

Kylene (ravname OhBoyOhBoy) chose Pink Purl in Artisan Sock to knit these pretty Child's First Sock in Shell Pattern. They almost look opulescent, like the inside of a shell. Great colour choice!

Louisa (ravname: louisap) knit the sweetest pair of Saartje's Bootees in Blueberry and  Arroyo. I've knit these before (in Greenlake) and they are just adorable.

Holly (ravname: hollyisaac)  knit this beautiful pair of Fields of Flowers socks in Artisan Sock in Frost and Indigo. Look at detail. That must have been an intimidating chart. Well done!

And finally, Ravname: Kamidake knit these lovely Glass Slipper socks in Artisan Sock in Aquarius. I love the texture and the detail at the gusset.

Thanks to everyone for allowing me to share their projects.

Keep on knitting!

Have you heard about our upcoming Ravelry knitalong? I'll give you the details soon.

Andrea Rangel and Jennifer Chase-Rapport are two amazing ladies who are spending quite a bit of time at HK HQ these days. When they aren't helping to keep this ship running and getting all that scrummy yarn out the door, they use their powers for good and design amazing knitting patterns.
They have both had patterns published in major publications recently and we thought it would be fun to share these patterns with you since we are so proud that these ladies are part of the HK family.

If you were an HK club member in April you will be familiar with Andrea's work as she was the designer of that month's club pattern, Hex Socks.

Her latest pattern, Dawn Dress, was recently published in Interweave Knits Summer 2012 issue. It is a flirty dress with cables and pleats.

You can find more of Andrea's patterns here.

Jennifer has also designed for the HK club in the past. You may remember the Purls and Seaweed Wrap Scarf pattern if you were a member in June 2011.

Her latest pattern, Huntress Shawl, was published in Knitscene's Fall 2012 issue. It is a fun, small shawl featuring a wolf's face.

You can find more of Jennifer's patterns here.

Congratulations to both of these amazing designers. We can't wait to see what you will cook up next.
